Lech in wintertime

More than 100 years ago the first skier went down the hillsides of the Arlberg – that was the priest of Warth – and at that time nobody could imagine that the 700-year-old village would someday become a world-famous ski resort.

Today in Lech, in the Arlberg area, there are ski slopes and free ski areas between 1,450 to 2,800 metres above sea level. There are cable railways, chair lifts and T-bar lifts to take you between Rüfikopf, Madloch, Kriegerhorn and Mohnenfluh. They will bring you to the nicest slopes, which have different levels of difficulty. 85 mountain railways and lifts, 277 km of cultivated slopes and 180 km of free ski area provide everything you need, whatever your level of skiing ability. There are also 23 km of cross-country skiing trails, 29 km of winter footpaths and a toboggan run.
